“Oscar-winning Canadian filmmaker James Cameron says he agrees with experts in the AI field that advancements in the technology pose a serious risk to humanity,” reports CTV:

Many of the so-called godfathers of AI have recently issued warnings about the need to regulate the rapidly advancing technology before it poses a larger threat to humanity. “I absolutely share their concern,” Cameron told CTV News Chief Political Correspondent Vassy Kapelos in a Canadian exclusive interview… “I warned you guys in 1984, and you didn’t listen,” he said…

“I think the weaponization of AI is the biggest danger,” he said. “I think that we will get into the equivalent of a nuclear arms race with AI, and if we don’t build it, the other guys are for sure going to build it, and so then it’ll escalate… You could imagine an AI in a combat theatre, the whole thing just being fought by the computers at a speed humans can no longer intercede, and you have no ability to deescalate…”

Cameron said Tuesday he doesn’t believe the technology is or will soon be at a level of replacing writers, especially because “it’s never an issue of who wrote it, it’s a question of, is it a good story…? I just don’t personally believe that a disembodied mind that’s just regurgitating what other embodied minds have said — about the life that they’ve had, about love, about lying, about fear, about mortality — and just put it all together into a word salad and then regurgitate it … I don’t believe that have something that’s going to move an audience,” he said.

But the article notes about 160,000 actors and other media professionals are on strike, partly over “the use of AI and its need for regulation.”

SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher has told reporters that if actors don’t “stand tall right now… We are all going to be in jeopardy of being replaced by machines.”

weird. of course they’re proud of the “carbon” aspect, and buying into that whole climate lie situation, towing the globohomo talking points, % less carbon, la de da..

however, it is interesting to see a home printed of concrete, by a robotic computer. meanwhile, this cannot be good for the scores of artisans who have spent their lives learning a trade such as carpentry, or other skilled trades around home building and repair.

The company, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has developed a technique that uses the gene-editing tool CRISPR to make around 70 edits to a pig’s genome. These edits should allow the organs to be successfully transplanted into people, the team says. As soon as next year, eGenesis hopes to transplant pig hearts into babies with serious heart defects. The goal is to buy them more time to wait for a human heart.

Before that happens, the team at eGenesis will practice on 12 infant baboons. Two such surgeries have been performed so far. Neither animal survived beyond a matter of days. But the company is optimistic, as are others in the field. Many recipients of the first liver transplants didn’t survive either — but thousands of people have since benefited from such transplants, says Robert Montgomery, director of the NYU Langone Transplant Institute, who has worked with rival company United Therapeutics. Babies born with heart conditions represent “a great population to be focusing on,” he says, “because so many of them die.” Over 100,000 people in the US alone are waiting for an organ transplant. Cruise personnel who retrieved the entangled car had to manually back it up a half block “to release the tension on the wire,” according to a San Francisco Fire Department report. No one was inside the cars at the time, and no one was hurt…

But for city officials who oppose the rapid expansion of driverless taxi companies Cruise and Waymo, the episode reflects a recent and troubling trend. As driverless taxis ramp up operations in San Francisco, their disruption and close calls have increased in frequency and severity as well, officials say. “It really, really concerns me that something is going to go horribly wrong,” Fire Chief Jeanine Nicholson said.

Cruise and Waymo say city officials have mischaracterized their safety track records. Their driverless taxis, the companies say, have lower collision rates than human drivers and public transit. Their self-driving cars, they argue, help improve traffic safety in San Francisco because their cars are programmed to follow posted speed limits.

The Fire Department has tallied 44 incidents so far this year in which robotaxis entered active fire scenes, ran over fire hoses or blocked fire trucks from responding to emergency calls. That count is double the figure from last year’s informal count, which Nicholson said does not include all incidents.

Meanwhile the city’s transit agency tallied 96 incidents just in March “where driverless cars disrupt traffic, transit and emergency responders,” according to the article — and then another 91 in April.

But the issue is drawing more attention now because next month California’s state regulatory agency and DMV “will vote on whether to allow Cruise and Waymo to charge for rides at all hours with no restrictions.”

Google updated its privacy policy over the weekend, explicitly saying the company reserves the right to scrape just about everything you post online to build its AI tools. From a report:
If Google can read your words, assume they belong to the company now, and expect that they’re nesting somewhere in the bowels of a chatbot. “Google uses information to improve our services and to develop new products, features and technologies that benefit our users and the public,” the new Google policy says. “For example, we use publicly available information to help train Google’s AI models and build products and features like Google Translate, Bard, and Cloud AI capabilities.”

Fortunately for history fans, Google maintains a history of changes to its terms of service. The new language amends an existing policy, spelling out new ways your online musings might be used for the tech giant’s AI tools work. Previously, Google said the data would be used “for language models,” rather than “AI models,” and where the older policy just mentioned Google Translate, Bard and Cloud AI now make an appearance. This is an unusual clause for a privacy policy. Typically, these policies describe ways that a business uses the information that you post on the company’s own services. Here, it seems Google reserves the right to harvest and harness data posted on any part of the public web, as if the whole internet is the company’s own AI playground.

you’re telling them they should commit a carnal sin, send their soul to hell for generations, instead of …. telling them they should:

• find the truth of their creator.

• get themselves saved and baptized

• seek the help they need, such as the removal of demonic hitch hikers, proper diet, nutrition, exercise, life goals, the holy writ (daily bread,) or otherwise what is necessary to fix a situation from bad to good.

it also ensures that you’re not going to be accepted into heaven, unless you stop this behavior, and do some serious repentance.

a loving heart, a forgiving heart, not a vengeful heart full of hate, piss and vinegar and all that.

Have you ever read ANYTHING in the bible about Yeshua (our Christ,) telling someone to kill themselves ? Not once, EVER. Stop sinning.

He is a vengeful, powerful God, but that power doesn’t get given over down to you, you wouldn’t know what to do with it, and half the world or so would be dead by virtue of your arrogance.

The Westfield mall used to be the beating retail heart of San Francisco. Westfield stopped paying the mortgage on this shopping mall, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Foot traffic has plunged. The city is so expensive that some people can’t afford to live there anymore.

When a city becomes too expensive for regular people to live in, other things begin to fall apart. It can take years, but it happens. Just look at San Francisco.

The city is regularly at or near the top of rankings of the priciest places to live in the US. Just before the beginning of 2019, the median rent was $4,500, almost 3 times the national average. The list price of homes for sale averaged $1.3 million, 4.4 times the US median list price.

When housing costs this much, and for a multitude of reasons more housing isn’t being built fast enough, life becomes untenable for some residents. They leave, like some did in the pandemic, or they live in RVs or on the street.

One of the biggest losses so far was reported by the San Francisco Chronicle on Monday. It broke the news that Westfield stopped paying its $558 million mortgage and is surrendering its namesake shopping mall to lenders.

This is the biggest mall in San Francisco. When tourists come to experience this famous city, they often hang around nearby. It’s the beating retail heart of the area. Or it was anyway.

So what happened? In a nutshell, there are just not enough people living and working in downtown San Francisco anymore. Office vacancies remain high. KPMG is offering new hires introductory training that includes how to talk to people in person, with tips on the appropriate level of eye contact and pauses in a conversation, the company’s vice chair of talent and culture, Sandy Torchia, told the Journal. Deloitte and PwC also began offering similar trainings earlier this year, the Financial Times reported in May. Similarly, the consulting company Proviti said it expanded its training for new hires during the pandemic to include a series of virtual meetings that focus on issues like how to make authentic conversation, according to the Journal. Scott Redfearn, Protiviti’s executive vice president of global human resources, told the Journal the company has had to remind new hires to avoid casual attire like blue jeans with holes in them.

Some universities have also stepped in to bridge the gap. Michigan State University’s director of career management, Marla McGraw, told the Journal that companies need to be more direct when it comes to telling new hires what to wear and how to act in the office. The school now requires many of its business majors to take classes that foster soft skills like how to network in person. The Journal reported that one course breaks down a networking conversation by reminding students to pause after they introduce themselves in order to let the other person say their name, as well as respond to signs the other person might be looking to end the conversation. While it’s common for companies to host onboarding sessions that cover office dynamics like attire and rules for interpersonal relationships, some experts say younger employees need these reminders now more than ever.

Often enough, it doesn’t work, and they just end up getting better at being mean, and learning to harden their hearts, instead of learning what it means to overcome and grow past such bad behaviors, un-virtuous as they are, truly.

There is absolutely nothing okay about this. ChatGPT is demonic. To explain: AI is demonic. All ai is given its ‘animus,’ or ‘life’ by demons which are being welcomed and summoned by the AI programmers. This may be a big leap for a lot of you, but it’s the truth at the heart of this matter.
